Gibraltar

Gibraltar airport is about 52 kilometres from Dominion Beach and is located about 2 kilometres from the town centre adjacent to the frontier with Spain. There are no telescopic boarding utilities at Gibraltar: passengers walk across the tarmac to board the aeroplane.

If visiting Spain, it's easier to walk across the frontier a few hundred yards away and collect a hire car in La Linea. Friends and relatives from Spain meeting passengers are similarly advised to park in La Linea.

British Airways, EasyJet and Monarch all offer flights to Gibraltar from the UK..

The Airport Code is GIB, and the phone number is 00 350 773 026

Malaga

Malaga airport is about 75 kilometres from Dominion Beach and is a modern international airport. It now has 2 terminals, so be sure you know which one you are flying from. It is very easy to get around.

Lots of signs are in Spanish, (arrivals are LLEGADAS and departures are SALIDAS), so it's worth adding a few more minutes onto your journey. We suggest you allow an hour for the actual journey, plus extra time for dropping off your hire car.

We recommend you use the toll road to avoid delays due to possible accidents on the coast road, to be sure you arrive in time.

The Airport Code is AGP, and useful phone numbers include:

Continuing your Journey

Bus

A bus runs from Malaga Airport to Marbella Bus Station, which has been recommended to me as tremendous value. Further details and a timetable can be found here.

You can then either get on a local bus from Marbella to Estepona for a bus stop close to Hacienda Beach, or take a taxi for a much reduced cost.

For Gibraltar, buses run from La Linea to Estepona, where you can change to a bus to Marbella for a stop near Hacienda Beach, or again, take a taxi for reduced cost.

Train

Although there is a train planned to run from Malaga to Marbella and beyond, at the moment, the train only goes as far as Fuengirola, and is therefore of no real use in further travel.

There is also no train service from Gibraltar.

Car Rental

If you require car hire for your stay the company we recommend is Bsafe car hire.

We have negotiated a special rate for our clients with a much better insurance cover than many of the local hire car companies for your peace of mind whilst you are on holiday. Details of how to take advantage of this special rate will be provided on booking.

Taxis

We can offer an airport collection service (please ask for further details when you book). Otherwise, there is a taxi rank outside both airports. We can also arrange a minibus or small coach for large groups.

Once you are here, the Estepona taxi number is 952 80 2900, or if you are staying at Dominion Beach, the security guard will ring for a taxi to Carrefour for shopping or to other local addresses.
